Hello Everyone!
I’m Erin, a senior at St. John Fisher College where I study sustainability and sociology. I’m originally from New York City, but then I became a military child and have moved about a dozen times! In 2017, I received the Fannie and Sam Constantino First Generation Scholarship, which has given me the wonderful opportunity to be the first person in my family to attend college. Coming to Rochester for my undergrad career has given me a new meaning of home. I have loved learning about what this city has to offer and becoming a part of such a rich community. I have also developed a passion for two things: serving the community, and taking care of the earth. I believe these two passions align almost seamlessly with some of the work done by Goodwill, which is why I am so excited to be working here this semester for my capstone project!
What is my role at Goodwill? What do I hope to accomplish?
I am a marketing intern here at Goodwill of the Finger Lakes. I am working with the marketing team on increasing sustainability messaging, especially for people in my age group. Sustainability is about meeting the needs of the present without compromising the needs of future generations. I want to show people that Sustainability is at the heart of Goodwill’s work and can be seen in many of its projects and initiatives.
During my time here, I will learn about what happens on Goodwill’s main campus, and how different parts of the organization engage in work that is socially, economically, and environmentally sustainable. Then, I’ll find ways to share the great work being done, and connect our community to the importance of sustainability.
I need YOU!
If you are reading this and want to help me achieve my goals for the semester, I would love your feedback! Please answer a few short questions here about your understanding of sustainability at Goodwill. Your answers will help us share the great work being done at Goodwill!
