Rochester, NY (March 22, 2016) – Steven Feldon, M.D., M.B.A., is a neuro-ophthalmologist and orbital surgeon. He is also the Director of UR Medicine Flaum Eye Institute. If you get hit in the eye and need surgery, there is a good chance he will be your surgeon.

Dr. Feldon holds eight patents. One is for his invention of the Tonopen® electronic tonometer. It is the world's most used portable tool to measure pressure inside the eye. If the pressure is too high, the optic nerve begins to die. Patients can develop glaucoma. If not detected early and treated, blindness can result.
He has devoted his career to improving the ways we diagnose and treat eye diseases. He is a valued partner to individuals who are visually impaired all over the world.
Dr. Feldon knows vision. More than that, Dr. Feldon is a visionary. The Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (ABVI) is recognizing him for this. At the 2016 Visionary Gala: Sea Great Things ABVI will present Dr. Feldon with the Visionary Award. The award honors an individual who exemplifies the spirit of ABVI and demonstrates a commitment to its mission.
"Dr. Steven Feldon's support of, and interest in, the work of ABVI are truly distinguished and genuinely appreciated," said Gidget Hopf, ABVI's President and CEO. "His passion for ABVI's work led him to become a board member. While on the board, he helped develop and grow our person-centered programs and services. It is for these reasons we honor Dr. Feldon this year."
Dr. Feldon served nine years on ABVI's Board of Directors. He was also a member of the Board's Executive Committee.
"I am pleased to receive this honor from ABVI," said Feldon. "During my time on the board, ABVI made tremendous strides toward fulfilling its mission of empowering people who are blind or visually impaired. ABVI developed and grew rehabilitation services, adaptive technology training, and job placement services during that time. ABVI is a treasured asset to our community. I am happy I was able to serve."
