Rochester, NY – The Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (ABVI) today announced the promotion of Laura Piché, MA, CCC-SLP to the position of Director of Vision Rehabilitation.
Piché, a resident of Brighton, NY, completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Speech and Hearing Science in 1984 from the University of Minnesota. She then completed her Masters of Art degree in Communication Disorders in 1986, also from the University of Minnesota. She came to ABVI in January of 2008 where she served in the capacity of Assistant Director of Vision Rehabilitation. The promotion to Director of Vision Rehabilitation recognizes Piché’s many accomplishments, her commitment to serving individuals who are blind or visually impaired, and her ability to handle changing roles.
“I am excited about the new opportunities this position will bring,” says Piché. “The greatest thing about working at ABVI is that there are opportunities for all of us to learn on a daily basis.”
In her new position, Piché will oversee the day-to-day operations of the ABVI’s Vision Rehabilitation Department that served over 6,200 individuals who are blind or visually impaired in 2012.
