Goodwill Thanks CooperVision Employees for Donating Over 1,000 Pounds of Stuff During First Give to Goodwill Event

Dec 24, 2019

ROCHESTER, NY – Employees in all three of CooperVision, Inc.’s Rochester-area locations really felt the holiday spirit of giving this year as they donated 1,051 pounds of stuff during the first ever Give to Goodwill corporate donation drive this November.

“CooperVision has been a long-time supporter of the Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (ABVI), a mission of Goodwill of the Finger Lakes,” says Sarah Favro, Senior Philanthropy Manager at Goodwill of the Finger Lakes. “So, when we were searching for a partner to host the first-ever Give to Goodwill corporate donation collection events, they were at the top of my list to contact.”

“Through the generosity of our employees, CooperVision is proud to partner with Goodwill in Rochester,” said Jerry Warner, Executive Vice President, Americas and Global Commercial Functions, CooperVision. “Goodwill’s mission ABVI is dedicated to supporting individuals living with blindness and visual impairment — a cause that is near and dear to our hearts, and consistent with our own mission of helping people to live brightly.”

CooperVision hosted the drive throughout the month of November. During that timeframe, Favro said, the employees in their three locations were able to bring their gently used clothing, shoes, handbags, and other accessories, as well as soft home goods to the office to donate. The Goodwill team provided promotion materials for use in the office locations, the collection containers, and receipts for each donor.

“The donations that CooperVision’s employees generously gave will help to support the mission work that Goodwill does in the community. This includes empowering people with vision loss through ABVI, connecting people in crisis to the resources they need when they contact 211/LIFE LINE, and working with those individuals who are attempting to gain or maintain employment through workforce development services,” said Favro.

Favro said that organizations should contact her directly about coordinating a Give to Goodwill event at their location(s). Reach her by phone at (585) 327-5526 or via email at sfavro@goodwillfingerlakes.org.
