The new donation center will begin accepting donations on Saturday, June 1, 2019.
Rochester, NY - Goodwill of the Finger Lakes, a local not-for-profit providing services and programs that empower people to overcome barriers to independence, today announced it will open a new store and donation center at Eastview Mall with a grand opening weekend celebration on Saturday, June 29 and Sunday, June 30, 2019.
“We are excited to announce that we’ll be opening a new, larger store and donation center at Eastview Mall next to Ethan Allen and across the parking lot from Macy’s. We invite everyone to join us for our grand opening celebration at the end of June,” says Gidget Hopf, President and CEO of Goodwill of the Finger Lakes.
Moving Down the Road
Goodwill’s current location in Victor is at 2 Commerce Drive in the plaza with Men’s Warehouse.
“Our loyal Victor Goodwill shoppers have shared their desire for a larger store where they can find even more designer brands at heavily discounted prices,” says Jennifer Lake, Vice President of Donated Goods Retail at Goodwill of the Finger Lakes. “We do know from customer feedback, they also want a more convenient donation experience.”
Coupling that feedback with the fact that the landlord did not renew our lease, Lake says Goodwill wanted to find a new location that was still in Victor and could still offer what Goodwill shoppers and donors were looking for.
When the 34 Eastview Mall spot came open, Goodwill knew that was the new home we had been looking for. It is double the size of the old location and offers a larger area for automobiles to enter and exit its donation center, which will speed up the donation process and increase donor convenience.
“Goodwill’s mission of strengthening communities, eliminating barriers to opportunity and helping people in need reach their full potential is one which we proudly support. The ability of our mall patrons to both shop for quality items as well as donate for the benefit of the community provides a unique option that we have not had before. They will be a great addition to the property," says Mike Kauffman, Eastview General Manager.
Now Accepting Donations
The new Eastview Goodwill location will begin accepting donations on Saturday, June 1 beginning at 10:00 a.m. Goodwill will be giving double stamps on the Goodwill Donor Appreciation Card for anyone who donates at the new donation center instead of the current Victor donation center through June 24, when the Commerce Drive location is slated to close for good.
“Our new Eastview location offers a more convenient donation experience than at our previous location. It’s as simple as driving up and dropping off,” says Lake.
Grand Opening Celebration
The weekend Grand Opening Celebration will kick off with a ribbon cutting at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 29 in front of the store. The first 100 shoppers through the door after that will receive a $10 Goodwill gift card and a Goodwill reusable tote bag. There will also be other promotions held throughout the weekend.
